Yep
This happened where I work just last year. The coast guard did the search. They searched all lunch boxes, we emptied pockets, they had dogs in the parking lot. I had to leave my steak knife in my truck. I don't know if they found drugs, but they did find a couple firearms and some ammo in personal vehicles. No one lost their jobs over it, though I'm sure they could have. They were simply told not to bring them back.

My company's rule is no firearms on the premises. In the facility or the parking lot.

there is always at least one handgun in my truck, out of plain sight.
I might have to run errands after work, where I'll be packin. frick their rules.

We are strictly advised not to carry.

I keep at least two handguns and a HD shotgun in the suv.

One handgun is permanent, the rest rotates. My daily driver sees a lot of woods time. I'll be damned if I'm walking out of the woods unarmed given the amount of boar we have been spotting.

I drive into a lot of industrial plants so pretty much can't have one in the car since they do random searches

We are actually required to wear one at all times, except in the classroom. No live ammunition is allowed in the classroom.

Boar.

My bad. Greasy thumbs.

Only ever spotting one bear. By grand river...or close enough through the woods.

My company said no weapons on the premises but they realized our 2nd amendment rights were being violated and Louisiana is an open carry state so now we can carry in our vehicles but not in the building.

People who don't like these policies can choose to not work for companies such as Exxon, many other refiners, chemical plant owners, pipeline operators and power companies.

I'm quite familiar with this since I'm an engineer. I wasn't necessarily focusing on the industrial aspect and more so talking about being pulled over.

My main focus was that it's unconstitutional for an officer to pull someone over, have that person refuse a vehicle search, and then be forced to stay and wait for a canine unit. As far as the literature I've read, they have no right to force you to wait without probable cause.

As much as I disagree with industrial policies regarding firearms in personal vehicles, every plant and mill I have gone to reserves the right to search your vehicle on their property. Every site specific test says it, every policy says it, and I understand it. I don't like it, but it's the way the policies are written right now so I have to respect it.

All company officers are required to carry at work and everyone else is supposed to keep ours in the car. But don't ask, don't tell pretty much rules.

This was recently changed to be this way. Before if an officer had reasonable suspicion he could call a K-9 as long as it stayed within the scope of what was considered a reasonable amount of time for it to arrive. I haven't seen the recent rulings since I don't deal with traffic but my understanding is probable cause to call a dog and extend a stop would have to be almost the same probable cause that would warrant a search such as plain view, smell, excited utterances, etc

Sounds to me like they are attempting to put a policy on paper just in case something happens. I'd be more curious as to how they would enforce it.

Both open and concealed carry are acceptable and judicious use of marksmanship is appreciated.
