Hunted the rifle lottery hunt on Tensas NWR Friday and Saturday. My friends in my group with me went up on Tuesday afternoon and spent Wednesday scouting. One got a doe with bow Thursday morning, another got a 7 pt Saturday afternoon. I saw one deer, Friday morning, little scraggly looking one horned spike. Couldn't get the scope on him to even decide whether I wanted to shoot or not before he was gone.
All in all between the 4 of us who had never been there before I'd say it was a good trip. Some really pretty acreage for deer hunting in there. The number of huge oak trees blew my mind.

Had a great couple of days hunting my place in SW Arkansas. Killed 24 in the rice field on Saturday, mainly mallards and teal. Two of us killed 8 mallards yesterday in a little slough in about 15 minutes. Woulda killed four more, but Polar Pop is dabbling in pacifism. We sat for another two hours, but didn't have a single species come in except for mallards (except for a few spoonies, but we hadn't killed a single spoonie yet in 2014 and didn't want to tarnish the streak). It was a test of will power.

Where abouts? My uncle has a spot west of Canfield (Hwy 360). He has had a few good hunts so far this year but I haven't had the chance yet.

We're off 82. 10 miles east of Texarkana, AR. It's been great, but I'm already dreading the diesel bill from all the pumping we've done. We've got water and I don't think there's much else around us.
