Hunted Fri-Sun. Saw lots of deer movement but didn't shoot any.

Friday AM:
Hunted a box in a cutover. Early I saw 4 does cruising through the grass but they were 250+yds out

Friday PM:
just saw a yearling (not pictured)

before I went sit on the stand I started to smoke a shoulder from last weekend's boar. I seared/smoked it for a bit then wrapped in foil and put on the far side of the pit then went to the stand. It came out perfect!!

Saturday AM:
2 spikes

Saturday PM:
was set up in what looked to be a great spot. Right at sundown when it's getting good I see another damn coyote step out at 100yds. Thats his arse. I put the crosshairs on him and fire. He stands there for a second then takes off. Idk how I missed. Keep racking my brain. Then I get down at dark, walk to the spot and boom! not a miss! He gone!

Sunday AM:
This is the fun one. Decide to switch it up and get in a lock on rather than the box. I sneak in quietly before 6:00 and set up. I'm sitting in a tiny hard wood bottom surrounded by 8-10ft pines. Acorns falling all over!

At 6:20 I hear deer approaching. 1..2.3! I realize that I definitely hear 3 different deer approaching from 3 different directions! A few minutes later, there's one, its a very fat spike. He walks in from my left and comes right in front of me, 15yds (red lines). Sniffing the camera and eating acorns. At the same time I hear the deer approaching from the front (blue) get very close then through the trees I see tines!! It's one of the shooter bucks and he's 30yds out and coming in upwind of me! Then he stops. I can't see him. The spike is looking over at him. The buck begins to move again and he decides to head west and away from me. I couldn't believe it. So now I'm watching this 2-inch spike eat acorns.. great. Then a couple minutes later I hear a noise to my back left (opposite from where the shooter went)(black line). Takes a bit but then it registers as a buck rubbing a tree. Not 10 seconds later I hear a grunt. Spike pops his head up. Another grunt, spike bolts towards him. They are just outside the oaks and I can't see what it is but they walk off to the East. All gone.. sad...

TL;DR version: saw deer, had a shooter close but no shot, kilt coyote.

That's a damn fine detailed report.

Sat in various stands from Friday to Sunday and saw a spike and 2 does. The two does we're before first light. So the trigger was never pulled. All in all, I still loved being in the woods.

Last Tue, my son shot a doe and then got his first buck about ten minutes later. I saw several, but nothing worth shooting. They still aren't quite ready to get stupid yet. Rut should be wide open by this weekend or early next week. But it's supposed to be 70 degrees there all week...

If you aren't a whitetail, you don't have a pass down at our place. Size obviously doesn't matter

Nice story Hat.
Hunted in Madison parish. Saw 7 Fri morning, 19 in the afternoon and 14 Sat morning. I killed a good doe Sat morning.

Yeah, I hit her a little high and a little far back, but she only ran 20 yards.
