I consider myself a decent outdoorsman but the elusive big trout always seems to evade my efforts.

Definitely will hold you to that one. I have been on trips and caught quantity but I have never been and caught the 4-6 pounders.

No, the reds must be tagged.

No, they have categories for different species with different breakdowns etc. They release a certain amount of tagged redfish every year before the start, catch a tagged red and you win a boat.
