Poodles are actually good hunting dogs. I think they are a very effective duck hunting dog.

There is a reason why most hunters don't have them....

I saw one at the launch one day. Asked the guy if that was a Vizsla he said yeah. Pretty dog that's all I know.

Haha was just about to post that, still amaze me how people talk about various thing on internet forum they know absolutely nothing about

Is the topic not uncommon dog breeds used in duck hunting? Or did I mistakenly missread that... Did I miss the part where he asked for a recommendation for a unique breed?

Unusual Dog Breeds for Duck Hunting

Anyone have a dog they duck hunt with outside of the typical lab, boykin, or GSP?

Hmm...

I saw a litter of 3/4 shorthairs, 1/4 chesapeake posted today on Facebook. That could make a very interesting dog...

Anybody ever have a Munsterlander? I saw a guy with one on a dove field one time but that is the only one I have ever saw.

Clyde had a beagle that would pick up ducks.

I had a mutt that had some gsp and walker in it that duck hunted with no training. He was something else.

Vizsla, just because not many people have them.

Mine hunted. he was not great, but he did not live long and I gave him far too few opportunities. Ignore Wick on these dogs. he's an irrational hater.
