I have used Ac Delco and Fram on my S10 since 2001 and it has over 200k miles on it. I have changed the oil all of about 7 times if that since I bought the truck in 2001. It is now my work truck.

Somethings make a big difference, but mine has done well with two different people calling my filters shite in this thread.

Get an oil extractor, never have to pull drain plug again...in my 4Runner, filter is on top so I can do change in about 5min and never get underneath.

Takes me longer to reset the computer than to change the oil on my wife's SUV.

Haven't done it yet on my truck because it's so new but I'm sure I'll get there eventually.

This, but it also includes oil and lube. Screw working on vehicles, too old.

Anyone have a legit link to one of those oil plug things? No worries about them leaking?

The only issues I have heard are only from people with really low cars that are more prone to scraping the valve. Fumoto is one of the largest brands making the valve but there are several other companies. I have never used one but I would have no problem doing so.

You aren't getting the right oil and you will get your truck back one day with zero oil in it.

I enjoy turning wrenches so spending a little time in the garage changing oil in our vehicles is fun to me.

Plus I just don't trust people, lol. I've talked to some of the dumbshits that change oil for a living.

I've had three of them on three different vehicles, only had one leak and it was a due to a bad seal from the paper gasket they give you.

Here is the link. Find the one for your vehicle and order on Amazon. I always get the one with the nipple, get some rubber/synthetic hose from Walmart and cut into pieces as needed. Makes for a pretty hassle and mess free oil change.

Quick question, if I bought my truck new and it is under warranty does it matter if I change my own oil or bring it to the dealership until the warranty is up?

Also for folks who change their own oil, how are yall rotating tires?

For rotating pattern, I do backs crossed to the front, and front straight back. That way, the tires will hit every corner

prior to my F150 I did the oil changes at home. The dealership charges 60 which includes a tire rotation. the oil and filter alone would cost me 55.

Thanks again to all who gave input. Did thw change on my tundra one day at work during lunch. Was shocked at how dirty the oil was. Had one of my guys at work with me and we are both of the opinion my last "purchase" at a Jiffy Lube type place was essentially a robbery. There's no way they drained the oil and put clean oil in it. Learned me lesson right there. Saving $40 didn't hurt either.

Now...anyone ever changed the clock spring/spiral cable themselves?

well you could go get an oil change at the dealer like I did on saturday.

Numbnutz didn't torque up my rear driver's side wheel after rotating the tires.

Wheel damn near came off while going 70+. Rim ruined, as well as studs. They are paying another dealer to replace parts and fix everything. not sure if more damage as I am in a rental as of yesterday.

Thats why I normally do it myself but the oil changes came with the extended warranty

So does the maintenance light on trucks come on for mileage, if so how many miles; or based on what the sensors record with the oil?
