24v or 36v and 80lb thrust or 112lb? Going on a 22 ft center console bay boat?

My 22' came with a 24V 82#.....wish I had a 36V 112#
Calm days are fine, but stong winds are challenging.

Can the Xi5 play nice with Raymarine or is the Lowrance necessary?

google search will give you the answers.
and these things aren't hard to install yourself. save some cash on the labor, 4 bolts and run wires.

My friend has the I pilot. He can set it and the trolling motor keeps the boat in the same spot by itself while he fishes anywhere in the boat. He also sets a course on the map and the trolling motor automatically runs it while he concentrates on just fishing.
Freaking jealous. Would make life so much easier when fishing alone or with my kids.

Obviously I can do this for the parts, but I'm kind of clueless on labor costs for this type of thing and there are about 6 different ipilot 112lb trolling motors on any website I look at ranging from 1500-3000 bucks?

uncles shop charges like 80 an hour. im guessing you have a saltwater boat, so you would want a riptide.
you seem like a high roller, so go with the ST

I agree.
ETA: go with the 36/112. You shouldn't out a 24/80 on a 21ft boat. Wind > 5kts is gonna blow that thing around like a buoy.

36v if it were me. In this situation, I'd rather have too much that not enough.

I'll tell you fricktards this. You're right about the older steel shaft MG's. I had the first run of the SW 75 on my 18' Kenner. Thing was a beast. Never one issues and i chopped up oyster reefs, beat up causeway pilings, tore thru hydrilla like nobody else. The composite fiberglass/carbon shafts are where it's at. I have no experience with the new I series MG's but would not hessitate to pick it over the Ipilot.
I've seen at least 6 newer model Minn Kotas crap out or break shafts on peoples boats. shite,Capt. Dumas has snapped 3 shafts on his Minn Kotas in the last 7 years alone.

I wish my center console had more space for another battery, there's a "battery well" but it will only hold 2.

BTW,He has it powered with 3 brand new Optima Blue top DM31m serias

I've owned both over a period of over 25 years. Both make great products. The ___________ are shite people should be ignored just like the people who fight over trucks.

a 36v 112lb trolling motor has the same amount of power no matter what brand it is.
I've used both extensively. I dunno what you consider to be a "new" motorguide, but the steel shaft motors they made where absolute garbage. A plastic head clamped to a steel shaft is destined for trouble no matter what brand name you put on it. We had an old Minn Kota for 10 years before it quit. We bought a motorguide because my dealer friend stopped carrying MK momentarily, and the MG head was broken after one Borgne crossing. Called MG and their response was to "buy a bounce buster and a new head." So basically, go spend another $100 to make your brand new $1600 trolling motor work right.
Naw. Not me. Don't think so.
