Reading some of these responses just grind my gears. I have stated before I have run numerous trespassers off my land. The biggest excuses I have heard was "I thought this was parish land" & "I didn't think anyone owned this"..........Really .....???? bullshite...!

That I bet the OP wouldn't have minded if they asked permission first. I use to grant permission for a few but since they abused their permission and with the sue happy public...I politely tell them no...If they persist I tell them to get the frick off my property or I call the deputies.

Is only about 60 ac with about 500yds of sand bars. I really do not want ANYONE that is not supposed to be there during deer season for safety reasons.

The red darter fish is protected. At our old lease in Copiah County the GW would sit at the bridge of turkey creek and write tickets all day. Not for trespassing but for the fish

We just got done battling this for over 10 years. Finally found the right course of action and worked with LADWF to set up regulations for preserving historic rivers. It was always illegal to ride on the private property surrounding the river, but police didn't want to deal with it because by the time they get down to the riverside all the riders are gone.

Good luck, there's not much you can do until the law gets involved. We always asked people to leave, but eventually you'll run into drunk people that are willing to fight for their right to destroy your land.

I put no trespassing signs and survey tape on the sand bar dude likes to ride on today and hunted close by this afternoon. Well sure enough at about 3:30 he fired the straight pipe 4 wheeler up and made his rounds letting everyone know how loud his shite is. At about 4:30 he came down the sand bar to the property line and raced the engine cutting doughnut just outside our property line. I got down and made a b line to the corner line and waited. He was gone. I called the SO and anyway I was told we could get him on a variety of charges, (disturbing the peace being the most likely). I am on this shite like a dog on a gut pile. For some reason dude thinks it is cool to fire up the Yamaha and make all kind of noise in the afternoon. I will be back tomorrow.

If I caught them and I was in your situation, I'd probably let them know that I might be liable if they get hurt on my land, and to please stop riding on it. And if it was screwing with my hunting I'd end the conversation with a pretty heated warning that screwing with my hunting is 100% not acceptable and if I caught em again shite would get real.

It could be a few kids who don't really know what they're doing, idk. I wouldn't blame you though if you got the law involved.

ETA: Read your last post, frick that dude.

Is not kids and the law has been notified. If nothing else we, (the other neighbors and I) will pursue disturbing the peace since he fires his straight pipe 4 wheeler every evening about 3:30 and lets everyone know how loud it is for about an hour or so, (disturbing the peace). I will call the SO on his arse as many times as it takes. If he continues to trespass then there's that. I will be back down there tomorrow. If I see him in the morning at his camper trailer I will have words with him advising him of his impending demise should he not cease and desist. Basically I will tell him to shut it down or he will be saddled with fines and court costs he cannot afford.

Thanks, it is frustrating. I killed a doe Wed night after his antics and it is early in the deer season. I cannot understand how someone who doesn't own any land thinks they can fire that shite up and basically frick with deer hunters. He has got to have a loose screw. Hopefully tomorrow I will have a talk with Earnest T Bass and...we shall see.

We dealt with the same problem in Hazelhurst. That protected fish got them though. It was an all year problem with the Copiah county rednecks

I am confused. How were they breaking the law in regard to the fish? How did this stop the trespassing?

In Louisiana, you're not. If someone is trespassing and on your property for recreational purposes, you are not liable.

The four wheelers disturb the habitat. The creek was only about a foot deep with a lot of sandbars

eta: those fines carried heavy penalties with th GW. Then the SO doubled up with trespassing

I put No Trespassing signs up on the sand bar along with survey tape across the property line. He continues to ride the creek to our boundary and makes plenty of noise at about 4:30 pm, (prime time). He has done this for 4 days now. I have been unsuccessful in "catching" him in the act. I called the Sheriff's office this evening and they are going to meet me at his camper trailer tomorrow after lunch. I have also enlisted some land owner/neighbors who own creek frontage for a show of force. Hopefully this will put an end to it. We shall see.

Please keep this thread informed. I have been off and on in a similar situation but instead of atv riding, it is more camping. As discussed earlier, it's not that I mind but I really can't trust that the kids aren't going to set the woods on fire. If a couple of adults came with and asked me, I would be all for it and could set them up in some prime spots. I just want everyone to stay safe and not ruin my family property.
