and a house cat.

that'd make for a neat conversation piece hanging on the wall.

Thanks man. You wouldn't believe the shite PETA has used straight off trapping websites against trappers in other states.

Yeah I can just imagine I didn't really think about it And if peta is reading they were released unharmed so they can go back to my barn where I will f feed them like I do every night.

Trapping brings back good members. I always trapped for coons, minks and otters when there was money to be made.

What's the going price for these furs?

What is kind of the prized fur that you are after?

Also, how do you kill them to save the fur? Bat?

Bat or a .22 to the head.

Thick, then color. We need more colder weather for the first.

Don't know now what the market is paying.

The problem with house cats are that people just dropped them off. They do more damage to wildlife then any other animal in the wild.

Trappers do not target house cats. There is no value for them.

Do you tan them and sell them yourself? I would love to have a nice red fox pelt.

Grey Fox I am getting $25 across the board on the carcass. I am actually not real good at putting up fur so I sell most on the carcass. Red Fox get graded out but I am told around $35 and up. I have yet to catch a red this year. Bobcats get graded and the only one I sold yet this year went for 40. It was small but had good fur and color. Coons bring me $5 to $10. I sold the first possums I caught this year for $3 but no more market for them so I just let them go.
eta - I am targeting Fox and bobcats and coyote I do have some coon sets out too

That's the most common misconception about trapping. It is not called a foot break it's a foot hold. when the trap is triggered is doesn't have enough force to break it just closes enough to hold. I ain't saying it won't be sore for a day or so but all 4 legs are intact.

I love seeing threads like this. About to start my land line. Weather has been killing me on my water line, only 20 rats and about 17 beaver. Keep getting flooded to much to do well.I need to take pics sometime.

Only 3 predator traps out yesterday, hoping to get in about 18 more in the next day or 2.

And then you have days like this

I'll try and run a water line tomorrow and hopefully have more.

one of the best arse whippings I got as a youngster....

was catching 4 of those nasty el ratones.. .and telling a kid that lived near me they were shrews... and he could have those - I would keep the fox.. it was about even...

his older brother came and found me.....glad he whipped my arse rather than making me touch those rats..

choupique II caught a possum yesterday.. trophy bobcat evaded us.. walked RIGHT by sets....
