I wonder what the numbers would look like if you dropped the commercial sales.

Probably the same, just a little less. I'd think fleet sales mimic regular sales.

Is the F series still the official truck of Louisiana? I always think it is interesting to see what regions have what preferences/biases in this regard.

I see more new Chevys than anything around BR and Houma.

I'd like to find my old post about this, but my gut tells me Ram is taking market share from Toyota.

Truck buyers, outside of real brand loyalists, shop features hard.

I find I see more Ram's around Houma than anything - Rams and F150s. Think that's mainly due to the Teuton's being good ole boys - think people have been buying from them for years and remain loyal to them more than the brand itself. Would be cool to see yearly sales from regional dealers.

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

Thanks for the offer on that magazine, btw. You don't have to worry about that though

I agree with some of this and disagree with some of this.

First, Ram is picking up younger buyers b/c these buyers are less apt to have had a bad experience with Dodge trucks in the past.
Second, Cadillac is making great cars, but Chevy dealers are selling them. The BMW/Lexus buyer doesn't want a Malibu sales experience.
Ford and Chevy truck buyers are most likely to have brand loyal buyers and those fellas ain't dead yet.

Toyota will continue to lose market share unless they up their game with new power trains and better standard features.

.... they're extremely inexpensive compared to Ford & Chevy.

Even with the '14 body style, the cheapest Ford I'd drive (Lariat, 4x4, EB) was about $42k with all the Mac Haik discounts. A similar optioned Dodge... er, I mean "RAM" is about $35k before negotiations.

I was out the door for $36k with my 2011 Ram 1500 2wd crewcab. Hemi w/ 5 speed and 3.55 gears, Sport package (20" rims, color matched bumpers and mirrors), Sport Premium Group (9 speaker Alpine stereo, UConnect touchscreen, leather trimmed bucket seats), 32 gal. tank, parking sensors, remote start, power everything, and towing package.

Not sure how that compares to Fords and GMs...I felt like I got an OK deal...nothing crazy though. I walked around Salsbury's lot the other day, fully loaded Sports are in the $45-$48,000 range.

I think Ram is really attracting young buyers with the Express packages - exterior = Sport, interior and price = SLT.

Its crazy you say that, I have two friends that are getting ready to switch to Ram over getting new tundras again..

one of 'em is one of the biggest vette enthusiasts I know, he said he wouldn't even consider getting a chevy/gm truck, he said they are shite, this is after the Colorado won MTTotY award. That really surprised me..

You're probably right. I see a ton of Express trucks all over the place.

After owning a 2011 Sport as well, I learned to spot the Express trucks by the mirrors.
