Going to Toledo Bend for the first time in my life this weekend. Any bass or sacaulait tips would be most graciously appreciated.

We'll be staying near Turtle Beach Marina.

I'm thinking this time of year that they'll be under docks and on deep points. I'm not much of a point fisherman so I'm figuring that deep cranking the docks may be my best bet.

Are they in the flooded timber this time of year at all?

If I were going, I'd be throwing a frog & punching hay grass.

Fish from 7pm-400am, look for lighted areas, close to deep water

Buddy was telling me he went last weekend south TX side, shooting deep docks with jigs, caught 30-40 sacs by 830am.

You fish jigs at night on the docks? Or same as during day? Seems like you'd have better luck with slower baits at night.

My dad has been killing them at night the last two nights. Had 17 with his best five the first night, and he claims 20 last night. Don't know what he was using but I know he was fishing docks.

I saw that yesterday, that's a ridiculous bag anytime, but especially during the daytime in July.

Thanks. I guess I'll try night fishing if I'm not too drunk by then.

No, you gotta get drunk while you're fishing.

Everyone gets one more chance to help me. Boat loaded down, hitched up and pointed NW. Heading out in the AM.

Use your depth finder/graph. Look for creek beds in 20 - 30' of water. Or look for any kind of hump in 20'-30' of water. Even a small hump the size of a car in 20' of water will hold some good fish. Deep crankbait. (ETA: this works best after the sun is up).

There are plenty of spots to be found.

At least... that's what I'm told.

If you come across some schooling fish -- I've always had pretty good luck with a clear tiny torpedo on a sunny day. They'll school on the surface in deep water.
