I just booked a room at Big Bass Marina on Toledo for the first weekend in March (March 6-8). The full moon will be the Thursday before we get there. I know I can't really expect any reports until the time is closer, but I've never fished Toledo before and looking for a few pointers.

What baits do I need to be stocking up on before I get up there? Approximately where/depth should I expect to be fishing? Thanks in advance for the help. Looking forward to it and will post a report afterwards.

I honestly would be white perch fishing then, but I fish the lake often.

For bass, beat the banks with white spinner baits or watermelon variety senkos.

Tape up your thumbs...

Go straight across to the Texas side and fish the Indian Mound and Housen areas.

Never fished out of that area, but my favorite thing to do in late February/early March on Toledo is fish the bushes. Hillbilly Special beavers, half oz. weight, and braided line are hard to beat if you like to flip into thick brush.
Sounds like it will be prime time - bring a net.

I'm hoping we don't have a major front come through the week before. I'm used to fishing shallow down here is S. Louisiana. If the fish are holding deeper 6-10 ft. or so, we might be in trouble.

I'm certainly not opposed to catching some sac-a-perch, so any info on this is also appreciated.

If I was you I'd fish primarily for sacalait. They should in full swing by then and long as these high pressure fronts stay away

Stay in the boat lanes...watch the weather...idle when not in the boat lanes.

Its a big intimidating body of water if you have never been.

If it was me I would rebook at the Fin and Feather you would be alot closer to some really good fishing areas.

Road runners, beetle spins, jigs with or without corks. Troll 'em, cast 'em... you'll catch a shite load of bass doing that too. Plus it's more fun on an ultralight rod.

Anywhere shallow out to 6 feet deep. Like someone else said. They should be in full swing then...

I have always caught bass in there on white or chartreuse spinner baits, a few perch on those too.

Are they well marked and easy to follow?

if its cold, find some grass in about 8-10 ft of water and throw an alabama rig right over the grass

crank bait will work as well but not as good

the males will probably be in the shallows by then, but the females will still probably be deeper

I literally just hung up the phone with the lady at Big Bass booking a room for the weekend of March 19th…

We’ve been fishing out of that area for more than 15 years, hopping over to the Texas side 50% of the time.

Senko’s, swimbaits, rouge’s and various wacky worms… like others said, STAY IN THE BOAT LANES, and when in doubt, idle.

go shallow for action, go deeper for quality(typically).

In three weeks that trap and small crank bite should be hot....grab all the red craw. Toledo bend gold color variations and youll be good. 14ft. in to the bank should be were its happening

I fished Sunday for about 4 hours and caught two. Slow, slow. Ran into several boats and they said same. Water temp in Indain creek was at 51.
