Tire Alignment

So I put 70k mile tires on my wife's Sequoia, 30k miles ago. Take it in for an oil change and they tell me tires are now worn out due to the alignment. Said you should get your tires realigned at least every 6 months. They have been rotated every 5k miles, but I've never heard of aligning tires every 6 months. Am I completely out of the tire maintenance loop?

None ifof those symptoms from the little I've driven it, she drives it mostly.

Is the dealership telling you this?
Make them show you where they are worn.
To test to see if tires should be replace take a penny and put Lincoln's head down in the tread. If the tread isn't to the top of his head, it's time to replace them.
My wife has an Acura MDX, the dealership was adamant that she had to have new tires immediately and it wasn't even safe to drive home on them. I looked at them and finally change them out after another 15k miles.
I let that service guy know my displeasure in his lies.

No, it's not the dealership, it's at Tire Engineers on Highland. Just dropped its off to get the oil changed. This place was under another name before, that's where I bought the tires

Never heard of tire realignment.
Is there uneven tread wear, either inside or outside?
Have you driven the vehicle to check for pulling, wobbling, etc. at different speeds?
I would get another opinion because needing new tires with 5K mile tire rotations on 70K rated tires would suggest a noticeable problem.

Means he bought tires rated to last 70k miles and he has only put 30k miles on them. He is now being told they need to be changed (40k miles too early)

OK. I can't read on a Friday!
Sounds like he needs another honest opinion. I think Price Leblanc has a decent service reputation.

Look at the tires, if they are worn on one side and the car is pulling, then you probably have an alignment problem. If those tires are worn too much (more than likely the front pair) you will have to replace and then have them aligned.

I havent picked it up yet, but I'll look this afternoon. I guess im just pissed that i bought tge tires at thia place, get the oil changed and tires rotated there every 5k miles and they've never mentioned any abnormal tire wear until now

You're changing your oil too often if you're using the recommended 0w-20
I change mine every 10k

Talk to the general manager over there. His name is Mike and is a extremely knowledgeable and frank guy. He's on vacation this week I think but should be back next week. I'd make sure to ask him Monday and get it straight. Maybe one of the guys didn't explain it correctly enough or needs to go through some training again. Did he say you need to have one done or have it checked every 6 months? Was an alignment done when you got the tires put on? Just curious on that.

When did that tire shop change hands. Sounds like they owe you tires or maybe a 50% adjustment.

Air pressure can cause tires to wear early too. Tires worn on both edges indicate under inflated and tires worn out in the middle early indicate too much air pressure.

Was Plantation Car Care. Miles Holley that owned Skid Marks bought it and then sold out to a firm called Tire Engineers

Yea, I've always gone there when it was Plantation Tire. I think I bought these tires when it was the owner before this one.
Yes, they were aligned when I bought the tires but not since. I thought taking it in for a rotation every 5k would be safe. Now they're saying they're worn out.
I just picked it up and there's a little wear on the shoulders but I don't think it's too much. This guy I think was trying to con me

BC there is no such thing. You balance your tires and you get your wheels aligned.
