Winchester SX3 is the same gun. Save yourself about $500.

Wrong. SX3 is the same as Browning Silver/Gold. The maxus is slightly different and the maxus also has a piston which is prone to brake. Would not buy maxus

This was a problem with the early run of Maxus'. Now the piston is different and without problems. You are correct on the SX3's internally being identical to the Sillver/Gold lines of shotguns. Both the SX# and the Maxus are very good guns, reliable, and soft shooters as well. I'd have one if I wasn't so attached to hunting with my Auto-5's

They changed the design several years back. I think a lot of the piston problems have been fixed.

The only complaints I'm currently aware of are a few trigger issues and just the total PITA to clean.

I bought the gun for MallardMaster and I paid a grand for it out the door.

I have an SX3. I've owned or shot all of the high end semis. The SX3 is far and away my preference for my shooting style and body.

I've been looking at shotguns past week, this thread made me take a hard look at Franchi affinity and I think I'm in love, under $800 for Benelli made inertia system gun people rave about... I'm digging it

Trigger pull is about a knuckle too long for me on my natural grip. Other than that, it is a fantastic gun.

Upvote for Franchi Affinity, got one on sale for $750 in walnut, gun shoots like a dream. Honestly feels just as good/if not better than SBEs I've shot. Basically same manufacturer and same inertia bolt driven system.

I liked it on shoulder better than the A300

If you are ok with not being able to shoot 3.5" shells, there no reason to spend more

I'd like it before east zone opening, but I want to feel it first and I want max 5.
