Put one on hold earlier today, but I've been reading about them since doing so, and I'm seeing a lot of people saying the quality has fallen a bit.

Just wondering what the OB has to say.

I don't find them ugly, over priced I would agree with. Like I was told, pretty much paying for the name nowadays and the quality is not near what they used to be. I really thought about buying one last month but went with a colt xse instead for $200 less.

So what are 3 1911's that the OB suggest besides kimber, that is similar price range, say +/- 100 bucks.

Had three and all were great guns.

Wish I wouldn't have sold a y of them, but I have gun add.

Springfield or Smith and Wesson in that price range.

I have a Ruger SR1911. I love it. Cheaper than most 1911 brands, but it's been a great gun and is pretty good looking.

They blow. Mostly MIM parts at that price point is nuts. Finishes get ruined easily. Also, they sell a close to $1500 gun that has a plastic mainspring housing.

I have that version minus the rail. Tactical Custom HD II. It is a sweet shooting gun. No misfires, accurate and awesome sights.

I got a very good deal on mine on GunBroker.

But there are lots of good 1911s. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the mentioned brands.

3 guns you listed in here are not in the same range as a Kimber in terms of price.

Close on some of the higher end Kimbers vs lower end versions of those three.

I love them. I just picked up my second one as a host for my .45 can. I have never had a problem with either of mine. They both shoot great. Here's is my newest I picked up last week

I have a Kimber Warrior. I don't like it.

Get a Colt or a Springfield. The TRP is a fantastic gun.

This.

Never been a fan of a rail on a 1911.

I've read some reviews of them having some pitting on the inside of the gun after bought new from a gun store, and kimber customer service wouldn't do anything about it.

I don't like a rail on a 1911 either, but Kimber makes PLENTY of 1911's w/o a rail. I'm curious how many here who are dissing Kimbers actually have personal experience. So far I've counted one. Disclaimer: I don't own a Kimber either and I've read on the 'net about the same general "uneasiness" about recent quality; OTOH, we ALL know everything read on the 'net is totally true.
