Troof.....was jogging yesterday and picked up a 3 ft rat snake out the road. Folk looked at me like i was crazy.

By looking at that pavement I can confirm that is the Natchez Trace at Rocky Springs.

my dad has had the same king snake in his shed for the past 7+ years, that thing has taken care of all his rodent problems

and in return, he has taken care of him

Cant think of any snake that even slightly resembles a speckled kang. Killing them is just ignorant.

Sadly, most people don't know these are the good snakes. I've seen two in the past few weeks. Specks are great.

What makes a king snake capable of killing a poisonous snake.

Fast reflexes? Immunity to venom? Do they have small amounts of venom to kill the other snake?

Reflexes, strength, and unaffected by venom. That is why they are called "king". I'm no snakeologist, but I think the only snake capable of defeating them is a bigger constrictor, and I don't know that they would be fast enough to catch them. They truly are top dog in the snake world.
