1200+ base cost isnt good "bang for your buck" when you can build the same thing for 500. And for what most people get them for(to say they have one, to show friends, to shoot at a target every once and a while) the 500$ one is plenty.

The savings from building your own are marginal, at best. The advantage with building is the fun and involvement factors, as well as getting the exact parts that you want. Most newbies don't know what they want. $500 these days gets you a wobbly piece of shite with poor fitment issues like a Del-Ton or something. At least drop the $800 and get a Rock River. If OP is someone that wants it just to have, then by all means, get the Del-Ton. I have to assume that people shoot regularly and like to plink, so I will recommend the RRA or Sig or something. When I say bang for the buck, I meant boutique rifle features in a production rifle price range, i.e. Daniel. Depends on the person, though.

Get a spikes tactical m4. Really good price and very well made rifle. Smaller company so they aren't to popular but can run with the big dogs IMO. You won't regret it

I just bought a LE6920 Magpul from grabagun.com for $899 last month. I looked at Rock River, Daniel, etc, and they were all more $$ than the Colt. Can't go wrong with the Colt, but that's not to say the others I mentioned aren't good.. They are. Lots of good choices.

COLT.

Not just because I want to keep that company in business, but also because they make a fine American made product.

Keep Colt.

Thanks for all the helpful replies. I guess I have some homework to do. I was hoping to spend in the $1100 range but budget is somewhat flexible.

I have a Colt LE6920 it is extremely accurate out of the box. I didnt have to adjust the iron sights at all. Also, Ive never had any jams or misfires. Go with a Colt. You wont be disappointed.

I see you AR snobbing it up in here. We all know delton is just as good as Daniel defense.

Buy once, cry once. If not you will always be chasing the perfect AR or you will be dumping loads of cash on upgrades to your "stock" AR.
Go all in on a Noveske for your first AR, I recommend the 18" Rogue Hunter. You won't regret it.

Awesome!

Form 1 for mine should be cleared any day now. Gen II upper/lower w/ black nitride BCG, CMC trigger, noveske-marked Troy BUIS, 8.5" stainless barrel, and 9" KMR with KX5 flash hider. Gonna have to go down to 7" KMR or 10.5" barrel once my cans get out of jail

Black Rain Ordnance, check out the website. I have the PG15 chambered in .308 best money I've ever spent!! Trigger is phenomenal, get your sequence down and it's about as close to full auto as you can get legally. On top of that everything is made in house in the good ol USA (Neosho, MO). Check it out you won't be disappointed!!

Noveske and LaRue are definitely the two best on the market IMO that are not obscene in price like the NEMO's and such. Both the Noveske and LaRue will outshoot the abilities of most people.
