We're gonna pull the trigger before the end of the year.

I like the 2 safety feature on the XDs, and the fact I can add the extended mag to hold 16 on the sub if I need the extra rounds.

OB thoughts?

I shot an P2000SK recently and hated it, though.

I've never shot an sk, but I've also never met anyone who didn't enjoy shooting my LEM P2000. What was wrong with the sk?

Lack of accuracy and a bitch to drop the magazine are 2 of the main gripes.

I put the larger mag release paddles on my P2000, like they are on the P30, and that took care of not being able to get purchase on it.

Accuracy? I doubt it was the gun that wasn't accurate.

Why do you need the extra safeties on the xd? Glock>Springfield and there are a lot of easy diy modifications you can make on them. Those are both double stacks, which means they will be uncomfortable inside the waist band. I would look at the Walther PPS M2 or the Glock 43. The HK P30 w/ LEM trigger is awesome and just about perfect for self defense.

Obvious troll.

Anyway, of the three listed, g19 is a no brainer, if u want better ergos at the price of lesser after market support go p320. XDs wouldn't even enter my mind as an option for a defensive gun.

I don't want one safety on my carry gun, why do you want two?

Back strap safety is the worst idea ever. Dictated by the army to JMB on the first 1911 because they were afraid of the semi auto action. Totally unnecessary.

After shooting a buddy of mine's xdm I have to agree with this. There were a handful of shots that didn't go because the grip safety wasn't fully engaged. I don't like the idea of needing a gun to go bang and it doesn't.

Out of those 3 I'd go with the P320.

I have the SP2022 (9mm) and HK45 and love both, and my next purchase will likely be the p320 in .40

I don't have a comment on the guns, but when I have a few in mind I'll got to slickdeals.com and set an alert for each model. They will send you an email if any of them go on sale. When I feel the same about more than one gun, I buy the one I can get the best deal on.

Is it her first and only gun? I'd advise getting a full sized or mid sized gun as her first. The G19 is actually a mid sized gun and is slightly bigger than the other two you mention.

I agree with posters who have criticized the grip safety on the XD. I don't dislike it for the main fact that it isn't needed. I dislike it because the grip safety has to be depressed for the slide to be locked back manually. This makes manually locking the slide more difficult than other guns where that step isn't necessary.

The reason grip safeties exist on 1911s is because they were invented before cars and used to be carried on horseback. They wanted an extra safety measure in case they were dropped even though they didn't realize at the time that the grip safeties weren't that necessary.

Complete bull. No one will ever be able to exploit 100% of the inherent accuracy out of a handgun.

I think it's wiser to word it this way:

"How easy is it to be accurate with this handgun?"

instead of:

"How accurate is this handgun?"

Every handgun will have good inherent accuracy (especially an HK), barring some mechanical flaw which typically gets resolved (like the early M&P9 barrels). But this inherent accuracy isn't all that important at self defense distances anyway. Do I care about 1/2" difference at 25 yards when I'm shooting someone 10 feet away? If a revolver has a 12 pound trigger pull but has good inherent accuracy is it easy to attain that level of accuracy without expert manipulation of the trigger? No, so it doesn't make much difference to me.

Agree. Also, the 1911 is a cocked and locked carry, which kind of freaks people out.
