My chainsaw locked up and I need to get it serviced. Does anyone have a recommendation to get this done before hurricane season picks up?

Not in BR, but Bankston Auto Parts & Outdoor Equipment in Albany is where I bring all my Stihl equipment for repairs.

Yep. I've also dealt with K&D in Baton Rouge and the guy in Watson (I think it's Watson Power or something like that). Great experiences with all 3.

C&M is the one on Florida Blvd near Walker. Mr. Charlie is the man to speak to there.

There is also a guy in Watson, on Hwy 16 just south of the red light. Watson Lawn and Outdoor is the name of the place (I just looked it up). These places, along with K&D, I've used with nothing bad to say.

No erl mix and burnt it up?

A bunch of places keep old equipment around for spare parts. Pauli's in Metairie has about 30 saws sitting on the floor right now. Might as well just get another engine and swap it out yourself, but a new one will be $$$

Engine would still run if the brake was on. From what I gather, the engine is locked up

Don't waste your time in money to repair. Time to buy a new one.

I have bought and had great service from both K & D and C & M. K & D is usually more backed up than C & M likely due to location.

If it's a pro grade he might be able to have it rebuilt pretty cheap and easy. I think they're split cased with sleeve bores and can be rebuilt on a truck bed with a few tools.

Homeowner or farm grade probably isn't worth fixing.
