Better ask Fish where he got the wood, he had a hell of a time locating it...

Cousin married into the family that owns Gabriel Building Supply. Figured they can get just about anything that I can't get in Denham. Thanks for the heads up though.

Construction starts Wednesday.

Do check out the link on my first post of this thread. Have a full set of plans layed out. If you have any questions, just ask.

OK people, we have a bottom on and seats. Ran out of gas. In fact, been running on empty. Good think is, I lost 7 lbs in two days even with me drinking many beers. Guess that not eating all day will do that.

Now for some pictures, it's coming out nice for a big mother.

Makes that 16 look small.
Serious work there Fish, Id bid on it but it'll float too close to the water for me. Fricken' sharks and shite.

This thing should hold 1,000lbs easy.

Oh, both my son and SIL wants it. Told them they should know how to build one by now.

Thanks.

If I feel a little better tomorrow, I will finish it. Just have to put the rub rails on, a little sanding here and there and throw on some paint.

But first, I have my blood suckering nurse come in the morning.

Fish,
I have one special request for this project (as if it is not special enough)......

Is there any way you could engrave something special on the side of this masterpiece? Something to the effects of
"Fight like hell. Fish Fighter to El Josey Wales 2013" or the like?
No one that doesn't post on the OB will take this pirogue home with them. This would be a special way for any of us here to remember the out pouring support that you as well as many others have done here for this great cause as well as to remember to always keep fighting in life notated how high the deck is stacked against you.

I wanted to do something like that. I am going to ask my SIL to put something on one of the seats. Wish I could get a decal made for the side.

Any of the OB people have a printing shop that could help out?

I really don't know. or maybe a engraving plate out of brass that could be screwed in place.

Anyway, got the rub rails on and had to call it a day. Was dragging when I got out of bed. My will was there, but my body just told me no way. I had to climb back in bed for a few more hours of rest.

If I feel better tomorrow, I should start to paint it after passing a sander around it.

Sorry, no pictures today. Sucks when you feel like shite and there is nothing that can be done, but there is always hope for a better day tomorrow.

Prime it with kilts, then a good marine paint. Three coats at that.

I'm not a rich man but it will take some deep pockets to carry this thing home on Dec. 11

Wonder what the OB thinks the over/under will be on this boat?

Good deal. Just curious. All the earlier posters talking about Chapman made me laugh Delivering him a drum of resin a 3 pails of pirogue green gelcoat tomorrow.
