Yep, and it's not like you aren't going to stand out or anything when you are the only house with power in a virtual sea of darkness.

I've done a ton of research on this.

If a 22KW or lower air-cooled unit, you definitely want to go Kohler. The Command Pro series of engines used by these units have better engineering and notably better internal components.

If a larger water-cooled version, both Generac and Kohler have good solutions.

Not sure how many KW needed.....I'd have to say 25 or so. 2500 sq ft living, Stove is only gas appliance. My gas line is 1" to the house. Is that sufficient?

Running Watts: 14570 W
Starting Volt-Amps: 27280 VA

Find out exactly how big here..

This is pretty cool way of finding out also, seem more accurate.

I have a 20kW Generac and it's been perfect thus far.

I have Kohler at home, and a larger Kohler at my office. My son and several friends have Kohlers at their homes.

You'll pay a little more on the front end for a Kohler, but unless Generac has improved it's QA/QC in the past 5 years, it will be money well-spent.

Kohler's residential units came with a 5-year warranty when I bought mine. Not sure if they still do.

If you can store diesel they are the cheapest to operate by far.

Call Pan American Power out of Covington. Great people. Great service department. They are dealers for Generac, Kohler and Onan.
