Spending a week camping on the beach

We have just about everything we need, but Wr decided we need a bigger tent so we can bring the dogs (the wife decided this), and we might need a portable shower so she doesn't get rank.
Anyone have any recommendations for either? With the weather, I'm thinking the ability to survive rain is extremely important.

How are you getting to this beach? If you're not hiking, I recommend the Big Agnes Flying Diamond tents. If that's too expensive or larger than what you're looking for, I just recently bought a Kelty TN2 for less than $200 and I've had it in some serious downpours with no issues whatsoever. I normally camp in a hammock, but I've found myself grabbing this tent over the more expensive tents and hammocks I have for my most recent trips. Highly recommend. Where are you camping?

The portable shower bags that I have used were pretty bad. Hardly any flow or capacity. You'd be better served finding a beach access with a shower house like grand isle state park or at least something with outdoor showers set up to get sand off.

Yea, bring a shovel to dig a hole in the sand for your fire

That is a VERY nice tent. But our dogs are both pretty big.
I am probably gonna buy one of those keltys to replace my aging hooligan tent.

I'm a hammock era so but when I slept in the ground Coleman tents were good for me. Fairly cheap but durable.
What beach? I've always wanted to camp by the ocean.
Also you driving up or walking in?

Get a Heat Buddy for the tent. Also, several 5 gallon buckets of water. As for showers, get a 1-2 qt pot for the fire, boil water and add the hot water to one of the 5 gallon buckets. A couple of fills should be plenty for a nice warm bucket of water. Use the pot to dip the water, pour it over you. Soap up then rinse. 1 bucket of water will easily do 3 TO 4 showers. If you have the cash, the propane instant hot water showers aren't bad. They make Thermacells in a Tiki style Tiki Thermacell that would be cool for the outside area. We hook the standard one to the door of the tent and never get mosquitoes in the tent.

I may need to do some google map exploring.
Are these established campsites or just find an open spot?

It took me a literal month of google map searching the coast of louisiana to find our spot back in 2005.
As for corpus christi, if you have 4wd and know your way around beach driving and extraction, they have like 20 miles of official beach and like 70 miles on the national seashore.
We usually drive about 30 miles out and set up camp.
I'm a little leary these days with illegals, but we make sure we each always have a firearm. For the most part all we ever see is a group of jeeps creeping along and pretending it is the most epic offroad adventure of their lives.
With the long travel, we usually run 55-70 mph the whole way down.

Dogs in tent = sand in tent.

Do it. You can not beat it for the price.

I don't care what you do, dogs or no dogs, if you camp on or around sand it will make its way into the tent
