Like the title says, I'm looking to book a charter trip in the next few months for myself, son, and 2 of his friends plus their dads. 6 total.

Was looking at Venice, but Grand Isle/Fourchon would be a little shorter drive. One guy recommended MGFC out of Venice, but I'd like to hear some any other recommendations from people with 1st hand experiences.

Going with CT over Memorial Day. If you are looking for a weekend they are probably booked, but if you can swing a week day he may have some openings. Dude knows how to fish.

A ton of options. Now through early March is your best shot at big ones along with some Wahoo. MGFC is the most in demand. Plenty of others that will put you on the same fish. Paradise Outfitters in Venice is also great. If you want to go out of Fourchon I have had good trips with "Down The Bayou" charters.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I'll go home today and start making some calls to see if any have a weekend open, if not we may have to wait until school is out.

I also recommend MGFC. Can't go wrong and their boats are amazing.

I guess i have had bad luck. Our last 2 trips have been with voodoo and MG. spent over 6k with fuel for our trips and landed one small yft and one amberjack.

In comparison, our last trip to guatemala was the same cost including flights. we caught 35 sailfish and a blue marlin about tree fiddy.

Venice can be great but i go to guatemala every year and it is consistent. i wont spend any more money in venice.

Thats how it goes sometimes. If you judge your trip based on $/lb of yellowfin you'll almost always be disappointed.

I think the next few months are a good time to book out of venice. Theyll probably be fishing the lump, there are tons of "junk" fish like bonita and sharks to keep the action up for the boys and you have a legit shot at some really big yellowfin.

Louisiana Bluewater out of Venice. They’ve also got a few nice houseboats to rent.

I’d look into Double J sport fishing. The guy absolutely kills it and recently started up his guide service.

You are correct. And if you judge a trip to guatemala based on $/billfish released, you will never be disappointed.

How much fish did you bring home to put in your freezer though?

If you decide to make it down to Venice, look up Capt. John Cole with Southern Catch Outfitters. His new boat should be ready soon and he’s also going to be running a second boat this year.

If John’s booked, you can’t go wrong with MGFC, Voodoo, Intensity Offshore, Louisiana Bluewater, or any of the other charter companies running out of Venice.

Blake Rigby Tripletail Charter
Hunter Caballero Paradise Outfitters

Intensity Charters Josh Bodenheimer

Cant go wrong with the guys above and all have bad azz rigs run out of venice.
