This is a whole different thread, and I think it's been discussed.
I did a roadtrip two years ago stopping in Austin, AZ, NM, southern Cal, norcal, Portland, and Denver. Though I can't speak for the east coast, even the southern cali girls couldn't match the number and quality of hot girls we enjoy here in the south. It was agreed upon by everyone on the trip, even the girls with us.

Oregon coast is phenomenal. Some nice towns (Seaside) and beaches (Cannon Beach)
Much of the coast is mountainous, like it is up here.

On the Columbia River. I don't mind the hipster vibe at all. I do like sunlight, but it isn't a dealbreaker. Not sure where my friend lives, he just moved up there a month ago. I want to get a place in a garden district type area. Are there any areas like that with the old homes?

Albacore make an annual run close to the Oregon coast. If you've got a decent ocean boat or bay boat you can target the chicken of the sea while you roll up some of the high quality green stuff.

I've never been anywhere that good looking women couldn't be found. Those in the NW tend to be a helluva lot less high maintenance than their Southern counterparts.

Great black tail hunting in central Oregon. You can easily hunt elk and moose in northern wa. Eastern WA and OR are very dry and have some good upland bird hunting. Salmon and fly fishing for trout. LOTS of options when you consider the drastically different climates on each side of the cascades.
It's not the rain so much (Chicago gets more precipitation than Seattle) as it is the almost 300 days of overcast skies. It can get depressing. But the hunting and other outdoor activities could make up for that in your case.

How much driving is it to get to the different terrains/ types of hunting? Am I looking at a 2hr drive from Portland to hunt elk, upland birds, blacktail? Or more like a week long trip/ across the state/ 8hr drive type thing?

Man, you will be only 1-4 hours from anything you need.

thanks for the help. Im going to NorCal in a month or I would go up there for a few days. I will be going up there in the Summer, and hopefully moving in 6 months. We are going to rent and rent our BR home out for 6 months, then decide if we want to come back or make it permanent

last summer when we were visiting some friends in Seattle during June, we went on a hike, and while hiking, the sun came out. I swear they were about to have sex right then because they were so happy to see the sun. They started taking off their clothes and "bathing" themselves in the sunlight.

I'm not the biggest fan of the coast but I go for certain purposes like crabbing and clamming. I've read stories about the winter surfing. I guess we get some huge waves. Water is cold as hell so you need a wetsuit year round regardless.
