went out with a friend last weekend and got to shoot a M&P and a glock 17, and the M&P just felt much more comfortable in my hands.
which is what i really want for a pistol that I am purchasing for home defense, because if i have to grab it in a hurry i want it to feel right, if that makes any sense. (it does to me at least)

so the one i shot was a 9mm M&P and was wondering if I should go with the 9mm or the .40.

im going to get the 5" barel just because i like the way it looks, i dont particularly like the compact look, and i wont be using it as a CC so no need for it.

so what do yall suggest? 9mm or 40?
also where do you suggest i make the purchase? i do not want to purchase it online.
and what specific ammo do you suggest? for target practice and HD?

TIA

ETA: any accessories you recommend for it?

The M&P was originally designed to be a 40 if I'm not mistaken. I know the early M&P 9's had some issues but they should all be GTG now.

Buy from where ever you can find it. I got my ruger from cabelas cause it was within $50 of anything online. After FFL and everything just wasn't worth the hassle online.

I got a 9mm cause ammo was cheap and i wanted to shoot it plenty. Maybe not the case as much now.

You can find it. The same as 40 most likely. Just got to keep looking.

Get the .45. I shot all three before I decided. .40 is way snappier, although still a nice piece. At least shoot the .45 before deciding. I love mine!
