I'm traveling to Nashville on Friday for a bachelor party. Looks like we are going to run into snow/ice. I dont feel confident with the current state of my tires (they arent bad just not snow/ice worthy) should I purchase some chains for my tires? Never had this issue come up so would like some advice. Thanks

So you go to a LA based message board to ask about snow chains?

Throw some sandbags in your bed.

I've never used chains. Snow isn't a bitch...ice Is. If you going into ice, a set of chains might help. If just snow, drive slower and think ahead. Just know what you need to do well ahead of your normal time frame and slow down.

200-300 lbs or so. Everyone with a truck puts sandbags in the back during winter around here.

I live just NE of Nashville. Many wrecks already reported. Ice is building up, which is much worse than snow. Reports are that the salt previously put down will not be effective. Actually, Nashville is along a line of sleet/ snow, with sleet to the South, and snow to the N. Interstates S of Nashville are reporting the most trouble.

If you go, you may be the only one there. Good luck.

I just saw that your trip would be Friday. Temps will remain below freezing all week, with the high for Thurs will be 15. But, I don't know what TDOT will be able to do about it.

For the price of snow chains, you could rent a AWD car with insurance.

The sand is the correct answer, I put 500 lbs in my truck, that way I would have plenty of I ever needed to open a bag and put some sand under my tires if I got stuck
