I have lacrosse. Wearing them right now. I don't know how effective they are but I love them. COMFORTABLE!

Russell's beat pretty much anything else but they high
Danner Jackal II's are what I wore before I bought my Russell's and really liked them. My inlaws wear the Irish Setter Vapor treks and they swear by them

Get boots with little to no insulation, if its cold snakes arent a problem.

Even when it's cold, socks are more important than boot insulation.

I have the Lacrosse 4x4 Alpha Snake Boots ($160) and love them. They're the only 18", rubber snake boots I could find. Be aware though - the whole 4x4 line of lacrosse boots run small so I would try on a pair before ordering.

My old lacrosse lace ups are the most comfortable to walk in all day.

Depends a caliber. And distance. And brand of rifle. For instance, Tikka.......,huge gaping pussy. Huge.

I'm talking about your feet sweating too much in the warm weather when snakes are out. I agree with you on socks but you also don't want to wear thin dress socks with boots if you don't want to. I don't personally wear them, frankly I think they are mostly a gimmick not many snakes will bite through even a normal pair of boots but I understand them for confidence. But my point is I've heard multiple guys complain about their snake boots being too hot.

Can go wrong with Muck Snake boot if you like a slip on. The last pair I had was stingray tested snake boots, but I finally wore the soles off. Now I just have the regular muck snake boots and I love them.

Marketing and people will pay them.

I'm all about them if it makes people feel more confident, but I've never heard of anyone having normal hunting boots bit through.
