When facing the charge of an armadillo, the need to break bone is imperative.

00 Buckshot, 12 gauge only.

Cheap, old, questionable reliability.

Shells that you think are too cheap to shoot at doves.

Dove loads are more than enough. They'll flop and hop around no matter what you blast them with.

They have a thick shell. Even slugs are known not to penetrate every time from a shotgun.

You are not lying about that flopping around part. Had one directly beneath me while bow hunting, had heard him for damn near an hour coming through the palmettos, and felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I put one through the back of his neck and pinned him to the ground. He jumped up and down which seemed like an eternity, won't do that again !

Yes, a .22 will penetrate. I've ended quite a few daytime and night with both .22 long rifle and .22 revolver.

1 shot is all it takes, never had a bounce off the shell. Also be sure to remove the carcass to an adequate distance if warm weather. The smell of 'dillo rotting in the sun should not be underestimated.

This +1. If shooting a 'dillo make sure you get a dead on shot...no low angle shots....that may cause a ricochet. Also, they have very poor sight...so you can get close...Dad taught me to shoot between the head and body plates. Worked everytime for me. Dead #possumonahalfshell
