I am still rocking my Scuba Pro D400 from the mid 90's. Hasn't been in the water in a few years though I am sure all my gear would get a few strange looks today

It would be nice to have a set up that I could rely on for 35 years!

I'm trying to decide what makes one regulator 200$ and the next 800$. It's arguably the single most important piece of equipment so I don't want to skimp, but what added internal features are really NECESSARY?

Love my Atomic B2 that I picked up a few years ago. Has a swivel, low profile and titanium means service is required every 2 years. At the time, it was the best breathing in all orientations which worked great with photography. That being said, most of the major brands have caught up in performance (Aqua Lung, Scubapro). Pick what you like and put Seacure on it.

These look cool, but I've seen more of these fail recently. As a matter of fact, these are the only hose failures I've seen in the last 2-3 years.

Get the Atomic you can afford. Z2 $400 B2 $700 T2 $1400. Same reg, different materials. Brass is more corrosion resistant than Zirconium, and Titanium is Titanium. All the second stages are titanium components though. 3 year 300 dive intervals on service. Best performing reg on the market. Go to Mark at UA.

There was a recall on XS Scuba braided hoses a few years ago. These may have been the ones you saw fail, probably at the crimps. Normally the braided hoses are better and more flexible.

I got y’all beat – I still use a Poseidon from early 80’s , all the O rings and seats been replaced but everytime I think about getting a new one my buddy w/ a dive shop shakes his head. It aint pretty and is a PITA because its all metric but still a top reg. If I did replace it, I would go atomic.

My dad purchased two Atomic T2s (instructor discount) for us back around 1999-2000 when I was still big into diving with him. He continued teaching and diving while I was busy with work and life. My wife and I took a recent trip to my family's place in the lower Keys. I went out to my dad's and put my gear on in the pool after over 10 years of no use. Besides some minor dry-rotting of the cover/purge, everything still worked perfect. I brought it to UA for service, and some recalls, and it worked perfect for our trip. I definitely will be using my gear more in the future. I forgot how relaxing a 1+ hour dive at 30' can be. I highly recommend Atomic Aquatics and Underwater Adventures. Mr. Mark will treat you right.

Yup. I have a Hollis DC2, been great for me so far. Technology is so good these days, I've found it's pretty hard to go wrong with any of the top brands.

Thanks guys for all of the advice. I don't usually make it to BR except on game days so I probably won't make it over to UA. I have ordered a few things from Leisure Pro and they have had consistently low prices.

I was certified by Harry's in Nola but they seemed to be high on gear. I have been debating back and forth from Atomic and Zeagle.
