I live on the Amite river and the past flood completely wiped out my back yard. 40 feet of land got washed out and the river is now at mine and several of my neighbors slab. And I just lost another huge chunk thanks to the damn rain. Moral of the story? Don't live next to a damn river.

Sorry to hear that, and solutions from the Corps? I'm assuming you are in Cypress Point?

Yeah, and no real solution yet. Basically bureaucrats being bureaucrats. "It's not our problem it's xyz's problem"

So what's the process to get it to work? Copied the link into the img slot, just didn't work for me. On mobile If that matters.

Not sure. It looks like you copied the link address and not an image address.

ETA: the image address should have ".jpg" at the end of it. Right click on the picture that you want to post and it should say "copy image address". That's what you want to paste in the img markup

What sucks is there is probably no solution. The only thing you can do is put rocks and concrete to stop further erosion.

I think you need some rocks.

Yeah... Well rocks cost money. And when there is talk of being bought out, the buyout is at pre-flood price. Guy down the road has dumped close to if not more than 100k in concrete and a new bulkhead. But if the option to be bought out goes through, he won't get paid for that. And I certainly don't have that kind of capital just sitting in the bank to take that kind of gamble just yet. Just an all around shitty situation.

We had a brand new bulk head put in and completed mere weeks before the flood. That was a nasty 40k hit.

Do you have flood insurance? Will it cover the damages? I would have to think that walking away would be the best bet with coverage. I am down river from you on the Diversion and am glad that isn't a issue I have to deal with...

Have flood insurance. The original check we got was.... Are you ready?

130.xx

Yeah. They gave us 130 bucks. But they are currently reviewing that claim and the massive report turned in by some engineer so hopefully that changes. And no, flood doesn't cover the bulkhead or land loss. We're just hoping on either a buy out or a nice settlement change from the insurance company. Sad that we've paid out our premium for 10 years and when we finally need the coverage they wanna pony up 130 bucks.

man I hate to hear that, I rode by that after the flood and saw the damage. I was idling and being respectful and still got yelled at. Its gunna be battle keeping people from running through there even with the signs. The problem is its in the curve of the river right there, and those few houses get the water directly. only solution would be sheet piles and back filling. also living on the river comes with those consequences and like you said there is no solutions in sight unless you have the money to do it.

It should cover it with that land loss if the home is unlivable, correct?

Yeah boaters have been a serious issue. We were told we would have a WLF agent out every day once the river was reopened to ticket boaters for flying through the no wake. That was obviously a lie ha. Right after the flood everyone was super on edge and basically yelled at every boat. Now it's the actual jackasses throwing up a huge wake or simply flying through that get yelled at.

Thankfully it's gotten cold and boat season for the most part has ended..... Except for the few jackass fishermen who fly by every morning in their bass boats. Same guys every day.
