Has anyone shot one and how did you like it? Needing a new coyote gun.

Thomas Magnum has one

I was looking at a MK2 TR pretty hard before I bought my CZ. Pretty accurate guns IMHO

I've heard excellent things about them. Josey bought one earlier this year and raved about it. Thomas Magnum Bought one before they made bullets for it. He's badass, so it was no huge surprise.

Ballistics look pretty good.

I have one and while I like the round itself I've had a few problems with the rifle. I'm actually waiting to send it back to have it looked over by Savage. There have been problems with I believe the first run production units but Savage has been repairing or replacing no questions asked.

It's a fine round, perfect for swoopedas. The gun isn't all that much though.

I own one and like it. As Magnum said it's a I frills rifle. I know Josey didn't enjoy the action on his... IIRC after a little research I found that the bolt is manufactured "stiff" to handle either the pressure or case size, I don't remember which it was.....

I handled one at Cabelas today but talked myself out of it. Was looking for a a Savage 17HMR but they didn't have any.
May go back and get it, but I'm buying for my newborn and I don't want the round to go observe before he can even shoot it.

After about 300 rds, love it. Zeroed at 100 yds for the 25 gr round. Excellent group at 300 yds. First 100 rds I was having a problem with bullet impact creep to the right and up as the session continued. I checked the free floating barrel with a slip of paper and found significant resistance. Disassembled the stock and noticed the inside of the fore stock was "humpbacked". Barrel was touching fore stock and so I sanded down the "hump"on the inside cradle of the fore stock.NO MORE DRIFT. The bolt has loosened up is very smooth. It is different in that the bolt cocks upon closing not when opening. Love it, love it, love it. Very accurate.

I have a question for y'all. A good friend of mine's anniversary is coming up and he wants a 17 from his wife. She asked me to pick one out so she could buy it for him. I'm guessing he just wants a varmint gun, shooting squirrels, rabbits, coons, and maybe coyotes. Would y'all go with the 17hmr for him or the 17wsm? I know he likes the hmr but hasn't even seen the wsm. Should I tell her to get him the badass 17wsm or just go ahead and get the regular ol 17hmr?

My 17HMR went down the road for my 17WSM

One of my many addictions is custom small caliber rifles ; specifically 17 and 20 calibers. I love watching crows explode into red mist and a "poof" of black feathers . Been shooting them for close to 3 decades and even designed a 17 caliber wildcat cartridge several years ago.
The 17 WSM is a nice round and compared to the HMR on steroids. Fun to shoot although it's to early to predict if this cartridge will surpass the HMR in popularity.
If you're in the market for an accurate, efficient small caliber cartridge, you should seriously consider the 17 Hornady Hornet. Centerfire as you can buy dies and reload for it, thus never having to worry about buying factory ammo at the store.
11.0 grs of powder pushes a 20 gr pill at 3850 fps - a coyotes worst nightmare . Pictured below is my custom 17 Ackley Hornet (Hornady duplicated this cartridge for their HH version).
This by far is one of my most fun to shoot rifles. Farthest confirmed kill is a West Texas song dog at 324 yds .
Build specs: Farley Firefly single shot action, Jewell 8 oz. trigger, Shilen select match tube, MPI thumb hole stock with 8 coats of House of Kolor midnight blue metallic imron paint

For more reviews of this cartridge and gun, go to Rimfire Central website. As for the WSMs future, no one knows at this time. I'm waiting for a better rifle from either Ruger or CZ, and those two manufacturers are waiting to see if demand for the WSM will justify the expenses for them to design and manufacture a gun. Same with CCI to start ammo production-Without them on board the cartridge goes the way of the 5mm mag rimfire.
If you have a chance to hold the Bmag you may decide to delay your purchase.

Seeing the red puff of smoke when you squeeze that trigger is one of my biggest thrills!
My Pops has a old .220 swift that I've seen him take a coyote at 600+ yards. I believe the simple factory loads are pushing the 40 gr pretty close to your numbers.
