re: Mossberg 590A1 misfiring - SneauxTiger
Found the problem. Bolt was not locking into battery. Replaced both extractors. Bolt locks tight now. Guessing close to 3000 shells fired. Ole "thumper" is good to go, now. Thanks, guys....

Mossberg 590A1 misfiring - SneauxTiger
Random misfire with no primer contact. Hammer strikes, no discharge. Recycle action to eject shell and it has no primer strike. Pull back halfway without ejecting shell, recock hammer, same shell, BOOM. Random event. Upon disassembling, firing pin, bolt assembly, extractors all appear normal. Bolt l...

re: 17 wsm owners, What is the final word? - SneauxTiger
I've had mine for about a year now. Out of the box, after zero session,1/2 moa at 100 yds. Then, impact started drifting towards one o'clock. Let barrel cool down, back to zero point. After a while, drifting again. Upon removal of stock at home, discovered that the cradle of the fore end was "humpba...

Walmart, of all places. About a month ago. I was at a local store and asked if they had any----NOPE! Guy next to me overheard an said he thought he saw some at Walmart. He wasn't familiar with that caliber, that is what caught his attention. I said, "Thanks buddy", and zooooooomed to my nearest Walm...

re: Savage 17 WSM - SneauxTiger
After about 300 rds, love it. Zeroed at 100 yds for the 25 gr round. Excellent group at 300 yds. First 100 rds I was having a problem with bullet impact creep to the right and up as the session continued. I checked the free floating barrel with a slip of paper and found significant resistance. Disas...

Thanx, El Josey and PoonHound. Great info. Relatively thick and tapered barrel. Was wondering about heat buildup. Will keep that in mind. The chamber is ported on both sides right in front of the bolt head....

re: Savage B-MAG .17WSM - SneauxTiger
Will do. This is the first scoped rifle I have owned. I am familiar with the workings of adjusting the scope "cross hairs" having friends who have owned scopes. However, if I want a 100 yd zero, should I start at 100 yds? Scope is bore sighted. Or start at say 50 yds or less, just to be sure I am hi...

The photo is deceiving as the rifle is tilted. The clearance is at least 3/8 inch. At work right now, so not an exact measurement. ...

re: Savage B-MAG .17WSM - SneauxTiger
I looked at the Ruger .17 HMR a while back. Excellent firearm. Are they producing a rifle chambered for the Winchester Super Magnum (WSM)? I was lead to believe only Savage, in partnership with Winchester, was producing this caliber rifle at this time. ...

re: Savage B-MAG .17WSM - SneauxTiger
MSRP is $349.00. Got mine during Labor Day Sale for a little less,$329.00. Gun shop said they were out of stock, but sales clerk double checked in the back, and bingo, lucky me. Scope was about $185.00 (199.00 msrp) including mounting and bore sighting. Rotary mag, which is mostly synthetic, was sti...

re: Savage B-MAG .17WSM - SneauxTiger
The bolt "cocks" the firing pin on closing, thus the extra effort to lock down the bolt. Some bolts "cock" on opening. Takes some getting used to. Is that what you are referring to? I find the action quite smooth, other than that....
