I have a long way to run a water line to where we plan to build. What kinda issues will I run across. Have a trencher and can do it myself but would I need a pump about half way to maintain pressure over that long of a run?

This ought to be good.
Pressure will drop at a distance even in a city which I guess you won't be in.

It probably cheaper to run power to a well shack.

2500' ? Damn! I was told 600' is a long run. You'll be a ditch witch expert when this DIY project is through.

We drilled a well for that reason. It cost me about $4200 for everything.

That's a half mile under < 40 psi. You will need a booster or tap a well

i know about where your at. call the parish water compnay and talk to the engineer. they are a whole lot better at this than the OB (all respects to any PEs on here). you and any mis feliciana will be a heck of a lot happier.

Just looked up 500' rolls of 2" line and I'd come out cheaper doing a well depending on what they cost

Wells are not fixed in price nor or they guaranteed ...at least I don't think they are. Be prepared to spend more than quoted.

I ran 3200 feet of 1 1/2 inch PVC to my current house. Once I got to the house the plumber tied in using regular pex 3/4 inch pipe. My house is elevated 14 feet off the ground and then I have a second story above that. The highest point to a faucet is probably 30 feet off the ground. Since having a well is not an option unless I want salt water, I ran the line. M

Anyway no booster pump just good volume and I have no issues with water pressure unless I'm running multiple showers at the same time. I ran the pipe in a weekend with a buddy and a rented trencher but I must say that digging the trench was a bitch actually running the pipe was easy in comparison. For roughly double that distance I would definitely have a good deep well drilled if it's a viable option.

Feliciana, if you get 10 foot sticks of 2" PVC at $5 a piece (which is pretty close to wholesale) you're looking at a shade under $4,000 for pipe alone, not to mention the 750 or so couplings you'll need, rental costs for the witch...No doubt it'll need at least one pump station unless you boost it to some crazy high PSI but that'll run you another couple of grand right there. Is there any reason you aren't just opting to dig a well? Pay a contractor $2,000 one time and you have "free" water forever after that

2500 yards?
completely out of the question
you'd be better off catching rain water

I have a trencher so I would save cost in renting one. There isn't any steep elevation changes. If it's 30' difference it's stretched over the whole length of the line.
