Landscape guy that took care if my property before me used "Roundup" around the trees. Inknow this term us generally used like "jacuzzi or coke or kleenex".... So gurus: what should i buy to continue to maintain this appearance:

My ole man got me some serious business stuff from one of the big timber companies that they used in the woods.... But they cannot get it any more. Used it here. Not sure what else i can buy w/o a liscense of some sort to work as well.

I admittedly know very little about poison, but just want to kill weeds/grass around these trees wirhout actually killing the trees. Around the rocks and my driveway, i wanna kill it all. Like snakes.

Thanks OB.

I've got some stuff that will kill just the grass. I spray it around trees and flower beds

My grass is a mix of zoysia and Bermuda.

I'll look it up and post it.

ETA: it's called Fusilade 2
I bought it at John Deere Landscapes.

Lesco Prosecutor Pro. Don't need a license mixes 1 1\2 oz per gallon and will kill most anything.

I would say that roundup (or a generic version of the same chemical) would be your best bet....it doesn't run, has no residual effect, and won't hurt a plant unless it gets on the leaves...

just look for something containing 41% glyphosate....

Tractor supply sells this by the gallon for pretty cheap. Much cheaper than Round Up.

I use it in a tank on my 4wheeler to spray the gravel down the sides of my driveway. I've only sprayed around trees once so I'd follow other advice on that. I think it could potentially harm the tree if it gets on it or is absorbed into the soil. Might should put mulch first and then spray the mulch.

This.

I use the Spectracide brand concentrate from Lowes. Same active ingredient (glyphosate) and the same percentage as the big box "Roundup", at 1/3 of the price.

If you're buying generic, go ahead and put you a couple heavy squeezes of dawn in there with it.

Roundup or generic product.
I spray around all my trees. Only kills if you spray the leaves

Dawn, and other detergents are mainly surfactants, the surfactant acts as a "wetting" or "sticking" agent by lowering the surface tension of the herbicide solution and allowing the glyphosate to stay on the waxy surfaces of the leaves longer than without a surfactant where it can be absorbed by the plant. This is a big difference between generic and the name brands. You can buy specific surfactants for herbicides like glyphosate which don't tend to foam as much, but a little liquid dish soap is all that's really needed. Doing this will allow your concentrated glyphosate to go much further than without because people generally mix too heavy and are wasting money.

TL;DR - The soap makes it work better.

this is what I use as well...I think it is called big n tuff or something like that...

and I do agree that it all works better if you squeeze a little dishwashing liquid in...
