of those two I'd pick the .30-06.

However, I'd personally prefer the .308.

Yeah, only reason I bought it is due to the hundreds of new pipelines in NWLA. Other than that, there's no reason for it.

Back to the OP, i think 30-06 is the most widely used hunting catridge of North America. There's a reason why.

i've been told the 270 is the most versatile rifle to own.

i own a ruger 30-06 though.

I am partial to the .270 but if you plan on hunting more than deer. Then the 30-06 offers more selection in bullet weight. Hard to beat the trajectory of the .270 loaded with 130 gr bullets.
