When the Masai Mara originally came out, it was $799 and a heckuva good deal for a Benelli clone.

Now they're $1799 and up with a sketchy customer service department.

For that coin, my choice would just be to get the Benelli.

No kidding. I was surprised when I looked at a few one day and saw the sticker. Lot of "known" options for around the same price.

This. For $200 more you can get an SBE III.

Personally I still think the M2 is the best shotgun you can buy

Retay is killing it in the marketing department, and their gun prices reflect that.

My brother in law got in to duck hunting a couple of years back and had to have a Retay and I told him with good ammo he didn't need a 3.5" and should get an M2 or A300. But it's what the cool kids are shooting, so that's what he got.

We had several clients bring retays this year. Several people absolutely loved theirs. That said we had multiple people claim issues this year and saw a few not function well with us.

I have an old Turkish gun for a backup that acts like the hammer of god on ducks so I'm not knocking off brands. Its killed more ducks than many of our customers have ever seen But you can buy better guns for the money retay is asking anymore.

Spend some time on gunbroker and you can find some killer deals. You just have to be patient.

No but they sponsor YouTube hunt channels so they have a lot of people's interest peaked. There are about 9 of them on the used rack at the local mom and pop. Could be good though, I am a believer in having a shotgun or two for each decent brand for a weird collection thing I accidentally started but I wouldn't pay over a grand for one.

Yea for that price I rather have a SBEIII. I shot a SBEIII and my dad shoots the SBEII. Solid guns that have never ever let me down. I'm actually about to send my off to Rob Roberts to have some work done,

Off track here but does your sbe3 shoot high? Mine is a 2020 and supposedly they fixed it by then but it was shooting like 90/10 out of the box, shimmed it, added a hi viz and still having to aim low on birds and finally got used to it but when I bring out the a5, A300 or m2 im shooting all over the place until I rewire my brain. Love the gun since I saved forever for it years back but my dad's sbe2 is flawless. I have seen people heat the nut under the fore grip which is the only thing I haven't tried. Buddy had a similar issue sent it back to benelli and they sent it back with a hi viz and said "float the bird".

I shimmed mine from day one and put the hi viz. I did notice it was a tad high but nothing ever to bitch about. When shooting cripples on the water I have to but it on the water line. I Am also shooting a kicks high flyer full Choke so

I’d be willing to bet the crash of the lira had as much, or more, to do with their gun prices than the marketing strategy.

I actually had a phenomenal customer service experience with them. My masai mara was not properly cycling 7 1/2s during dove season. Called them up, they had a prepaid box at my house two days later. Dropped it at UPS and the very next day, I got a call from an absolute baw who knew exactly what was going on, fixed it for free and even said that they had another issue with them that my gun was not experiencing, but they were going to replace another part just to be safe. The gun was back at my house 2 days later with a hat to boot. I'd be hard pressed to think of a time where I had better customer service with literally any company.

3 in my immediate family. 2 12s and a 20.
We love them. Shoot much more to where I’m looking than my Super Vinci did. One hun had some issues but customer service was beyond flawless, and honestly is the reason I bought more

Off the wall question, but how long are your arms? Im 6'2" and most shotguns have shot high for me. Several years ago I bought a Beretta. Went to the gunsmith to get it fitted correctly. He added 2" to my stock and presto! Dead arse on.

Same, but code black duck. I got used to shooting em flying but I'll be damned if shooting cripples isn't a math equation in my head

@PocketLab 5'11 not sure how long the arms are but sort of have caveman arms (at least they look, and I could just be imagining this, that they are longer than normal in proportion, which is def not a brag lmao, I was blessed with shitty genes (thanks Borris Sr.). Probably would't hurt to have it fitted beyond the shims but I've gotten so used to it now probably wouldnt make a difference. Once I break out the one of the others I usually throw in a case as a backup after a few shots with it its like shooting the 870 again and hard to miss, but I just can't make myself not use it as my primary after saving forever for it back in school. "Had to have it."

But to get back on track, buddy has a Turkish benelli clone that I cannot ever recall the brand name (not Retay) and is more like a sbe1 and it's a tank so if the Retay shoulders good for you and you like it, go for it. Like I said if they were cheaper I would add one just because at this point I have more duck guns than necessary so I figured I would just keep adding.

Do you remember what year that was?

When Retay originally started, they had no official us headquarters. Customer service was non existent and required sending guns back to turkey or getting lucky with a Retay dealer.

Then Retay USA started and they hired a good guy to running the customer service and a lot of spare parts in stock.

Then they had all the issues with the economic failure in turkey. This is when prices spiked and dealing with the company got sketchy. They turned Retay USA into nothing more than an automated phone response.

Maybe things have turned around and they have their footing again in the USA. I haven’t dealt with them in years so glad to hear if they’re back to solid shape.
