Had a dude at Bens Creek WMA (RIP) actually sit down at the camp site and draw on a fricking napkin how his 7mm Rem Mags bullet came out the barrel, started to rise at around 30 yards and fall to that same height at around 200 yards.

He was trying to get us to believe that his rifle sighted in at 30 yards would hit the same spot 200 yards out.

This. I still have friends that are too dumb to understand a bullet never rises when fired from a horizontal rifle.

I remember when I was a kid my uncle turned over a box of winchesters and showed me the diagram on the back where it makes it look like the bullet rises. I was about 8 or 9, but I specifically remember his voice saying "if there are people are dumb enough to think I will believe a bullet rises after coming out the barrel then our country is doomed."

The two ranges may be wrong, but the concept is true.

because of the scope. not the actual bullet flight (rising and falling)

The bullet will rise. But that is because your barrel is slightly pointed upward

The true "x" axis of that diagram is in line with the barrel of that gun.

Tell people that a bullet fired horizontally from a rifle and a bullet dropped from the same height as the muzzle will take almost (difference of nano seconds) take the same amount of time to hit the ground and watch their minds melt
