Remington is directly responding to comments on that page, which I find interesting.

They specifically say that the ammo and gun companies are one and the same. Guess I will have to start boycotting shitty Remington .22LR.

So they will continue to feed tax dollars to the other side?

I won't buy another thing that says Remington on it.

The NRA was one if the first ones to call out S&W and to propose a boycott years ago. Now that Remington has just made the largest donation in NRA history I bet we will hear crickets from the NRA. Everyone should send some letters to the NRA and see what their stance is with Remington now.

Are the Phillippines red or blue?

Edited for correct (I think) spelling of wherever RIA 1911's are made

It is tough for a large, old, established manufacturing company like Remington (and associated brands) to relocate, however, I think the approach they should have taken is leave open the discussion into moving. The perception is they took a contract in return for staying. Now that may or may not have been the case but they haven't seemed to show a possibility of moving unlike several other manufacturers (including Colt).

With the new contract they could easily pay moving expenses to a state with a much lower cost of living.

Its not like they have to move everything all in one day, or turn down government contracts. They could have just said that they are opening a new plant in a gun friendly state with room to expand. Relocate 50 or so of their better people and start building ARs or the sniper rifles there. It if works out well for them then they can shift their business to the new plant over 10 years or so. The announcement of a move is the biggest key to all of this. It would put gun owners in their corner and make the politicians of NY take notice. Instead, Remington is taking handouts from NY, and expanding their facilities to take on a huge contract from the Fed. More money to NY for bad laws? That doesn't add up to gun owners.

They made a choice. So, we are making a choice. I for one am only going to buy guns from companies based in red states. Perhaps if all of us did that we would see a dramatic shift in policy. Not only would it bring jobs to the south. It would keep OUR money here instead of going to blue states that are against everything we stand for. They look down on us and think they are superior in everyway. They control the election process, but they do not control our discretionary spending. I say f$%k them! Move the jobs to the south or else.

I wonder if other Arkies will not buy Remington ammo since there is that ammo plant in Lonoke, AR?

I know.

I tried 3 or 4 spellings and they all autocorrected to something wronger (is that a word?). I just finally stuck with something.

I would probably buy it directly from the plant. Show that we will support those areas of the comp not located in NY. I get mine through LE and they get it there. The company knows what's what.

ETA-Alot of LE dept's are HAVING to buy it because it's cheaper and all that's available.

Gotcha. I don't have the sweet hook-up you do so I can continue my Remington boycott.

You see my post earlier in the thread about the used Nighthawk here in LR?

Yeah. Saw it. I may be up that way this weekend when my wife has elbow surgery. I'll have to stop by and take a look.

I don't know if I'd buy the ammo or not. I had just gotten a bunch about a month before Sandy Hook so I'm not in need. Truthfully though, I think I probably would since it is made here. What' the OB say?

Most are not in the gray area that we are in - meaning living in a state where there's an ammo production facility (and a Remington facility to boot).

Yeah, tough call. Nevertheless, the profits from Arkansas go back to New York. I've only got one S & W and I got it long before S & W made their stance. Haven't looked at a S & W since then. And I won't be looking at Remington or Remington products, either.
