Happened just like that to me however the dog was quite stealthy and had my leg before I saw him. I was about to knock on a neighbor's door. His bite left a small circle of blood, some missing skin and left a discolored patch of skin for about a year plus. He had his shots and I was fine. I do keep an eye out for sneaky bastards now.

What is the best way to fight with a knife?

Only thing for sure is expect to get cut.

I did a little bit of knife training, and all I can say is that the knife will stay in my pocket until Ive gained control and have no other options. Otherwise, Im not good enough to defend myself if the attacker has my knife.

Think about a fight youve been in and now imagine losing the ability to grasp with one hand because you have to keep control of a knife. Would you have still won even if you had it? Or would it have actually hampered you since you dont know how to use it?

Dont blame you...... what happened to the dogs?

Is rather rely on outrunning one than going hand to hand with my Old Timer, and I run a 6.54 40.

I have field goal kicked an attacking chow before and my knife remained clipped on my pocket.

Cowboy boots and a well placed kick is VERY effective and keeps these teeth away from vital organs and vessels.

I was more talking about a human.

For dogs, just like BP said. A swift kick will make any dog think again. Neighbors dog attacked my boxer while we were walking one day. She was on a leash and he was not. I kicked the crap out of that dog and it backed down and just stood there. He did manage to bite my dogs ear and she has a nice split on her ear now. Owner/neighbor didnt even say sorry, just came and got his dog after everything went down.

I've carried a knife every day since about 6th grade and at no point in my life did I ever think about using it for self defense

Bap you should have ran towards the dogs, knife out with a mean assed stare. That would have sent a clear message to the dogs they were messing with a true alpha dog and that they were barking up the wrong tree.

When you moved toward the door, they got the beta message and you know what happens to betas.

In most foreign countries people carry pockets full of rocks for roaming dogs.

Some low life POS broke into my vehicle the other night and took my change and benchmade pocket knife, I'm pissed about the knife.

All joking aside, I thought of this afterwards. I figured if there are two of them that I should probably try to GTFO, but I wonder how I could've approached it differently.

But if that method actually works I'll put it in the memory banks.

I carry two knives, but have them primarily in case needed for weapon (handgun) retention. My knife-fighting training is minimal (with Les Buck), so using a knife for self-defense isn't something I'd automatically default to.

But I always have at least a 9mm Glock (and 18-35 rounds of HST) on me anytime I walk out the door of my house (except for places where CCW is prohibited by law). Other than a legal prohibition, I can't imagine what would make//cause me to not be carrying a handgun.
