I'm looking to add a nice fixed blade to my hunting/bug out bag. I'd like it to have a rigid holster/sheath, the ability to clean a deer/hog in a pinch, and under $100.

What ya got?

Anyone have experience with ESEE knives? Good reviews and seem to fit the bill.

The ESEE 6 should fit the requirements nicely. It will be slightly above the $100 budget ($112.95 is the best online price that I could find) but the extra money will be well spent. The sheath is excellent.

Thanks everyone. I was leaning towards this Benchmade, but y'all have me looking at an ESEE now.

I'm a big Ontario fan. Check out the SK-5 or SP2. The Ka-Bar Becker BK2 is a great one as well.

Also, get one of these $12 Mora knives and thank me later. Their steel is top notch, and it's $12. LINK

For $12 I'll buy one and throw it in the BOB. While we're at it. Got any recs for a cheap flashlight from Amazon.

Also Mora has a great stainless version if you're around salt water and don't want to worry about corrosion.

I have a few cold steel fixed blades. My pocket knives are eye brand, all carbon steel. To me carbon is easier to sharpen and hold the edge longer.

Need. No. I've cleaned deer with a buck folder before. Started my fixed blade search with Benchmade and found this. Mini grip is my EDC.

I like your ESSE 5 suggestion. Thanks HT.
