Daughter went out to the rabbit cage to feed her rabbit some left over salad from dinner and the rabbit was dead. She came running in the house. When she went back out the dogs had a big arse western diamondback cornered. I wasn't home and my wife is terrified of snakes. I am hoping to find him soon and properly separate his head from his body. Gonna buy some .22 snake shot today. Pics to follow if I get the bastard.

Just curious - What makes you think the snake killed her rabbit? Was it big enough to eat a rabbit? Could it have gotten inside the rabbit cage?

Don't come here with logical questions. All venemous snakes should die.

When I was about 7, my dog killed my rabbit. We decided to let the dog live.

even if it didnt kill thr rabbit, its a poisonous snake in his yard,so it should die.

We used to raise rabbits and it wasn't uncommon to kill rattlesnakes around the pens.
Another time about a five and a half foot Diamondback killed six puppies and the momma dog

I'm done even trying to argue with this board on this topic. I've given up. It's like when you run into that kid who says "my dad said tigers can jump 125 feet" and you know no matter what you say his mind is made up. That battle is lost, I know.

I'm just genuinely curious why he thinks the snake killed it. Maybe it did. It's possible. There just wasn't a lot of linking evidence in his post.

If your battle is to try to sway others from killing rattlesnakes in their yard it's a dumb arse battle anyway.

In pet rabbit news, we had one when I was a kid named Bugs. Original rabbit namers we were not. Kept Bugs in an elevated cage out back. One night a big thunderstorm blew thru and knocked his cage over. Next day we find it knocked over, door open, rabbit gone. We searched high and low for a couple days a couldn't find him. Then it gets time to mow the yard and dad tells me to go pick the cage up and throw it in the burn pile. So I did. And when I picked it up there was Bugs, smished flat as a pancake under the cage. It was a gruesome sight. RIP Bugs.

Nope. Just the general snake hysteria. I've said many times, if people kill them in their yards, I won't argue with them.

There is a drain block in the block wall right by the rabbit cage. Unfortunately the snake definitely could have gotten in the rabbits cage. I think the dogs scared off the snake. I came home and the rabbit was still all soft and floppy. No rigamortis yet. Rabbit was less than a year old. I'm just pretty sure it was the snake.

Exactly, you're rabbit probably had a heart attack or was killed by a dingo.

skin it you will know if it was killed by the snake. the blood vessels around the puncture will look like they have all burst.

Where was your hoe. A hoe is a snakes worse nightmare. Now you go get yourself a hoe.
