Mathews ZXT (68#) + Carbon Express Maxima Hunter 350 + Rage Xtreme 100gr

I didn't put the best shot on her and hit higher than I'd have liked but the rage cut right through and shoulder, hit the spine and dropped her.

Just curious, what speed and weight arrow were you using? Congrats by the way.

My arrows are 8.9 gr/inch, I draw 29"

So it's somewhere around 267gr

I'm not sure on the arrow speed

That would put you around 400gr total arrow weight.

If your shooting 70lbs you should be in the 290-295fps range, a KE of 76, and momentum around .52. That's plenty to shoot Rage heads at whitetails.

Congrats

Thanks!

All my other kills have been complete pass through with the exact set up (obviously through the ribs, not shoulder). I have been extremely happy with this set up

I like your style as far as your effort and attention to detail with documenting the hunting process. I'm not sure about those rages though.

I had a similar shot a couple weeks ago that was slightly lower and at a further distance meaning the angle was a lot lower. I'm not sure the rages would have done the trick, because i don't know how it behaves after passing through the bone. I shot slick tricks and you could clearly see the "x" through the bone and both lungs when we were cleaning her. I wish i would've taken pics.

I'm not knocking the rages, but i just wonder if it opened up properly after passing through the bone.

Awesome footage though. I think i'm going to invest in a couple of go pros and start documenting my hunts like that.

DieselTiger1 and I both invested in a couple Cannon camcorders and tree arms. We have been filming and loving it. We should have a video out this week to show yall

I shoot a 365 grain arrow out of a 61# bow at 265 fps for a KE of 57 and use rage broadheads with no problem. I'm probably near the cutoff line for them though.

This wasn't a rage, but it was a rear deploying mechanical (Ulmer Edge). The shot was a 120lb doe, twenty yards, quartering to, and out of a ground blind. The arrow (400 grains, 323 fps) ended up 10 yards behind the deer. Through the shoulder and the heart was nearly cut in half.
