We are not talking about the land, or the mineral rights. Only the tidally influenced water. Canals dug on private property with private funds, remain private.

If things keep going the way they are going, your grand kids and great grand kids will never fish the Louisiana marsh without permission from the land owners. If you're ok, with that, fine. Just say you're ok with it and this conversation ends.

I agree that the extreme coastal areas are a problem, but at some point inland, things become crystal clear.

Of course, but that was never part of the argument. This discussion pertains only to tidally influenced waterways. I own lots of property, some of it on rivers. I don't own the river banks, and if the river erodes away my land, I simply lose that land. Why is the marsh different? Why is it when marsh land erodes and becomes open water, the owners now own the water?

We only have two options here. Do nothing and let it all wash away. Or try and fix it. Which side of the fence are you on?

What does your second paragraph have to do with the first? I don't think anyone is in favor of doing nothing.

Why are you trying to force two separate paragraphs to be related? They aren't related, that is why they are in two separate paragraphs.

All I see is excuses for why nothing is being done.

I think it can't be done. Even if the legislature made something up, it would be unconstitutional. You can t deprive people of property without just compensation. So, like CCA I just don't fight that battle. Can you imagine how much it would cost the State to buy all that marshland back?

I am a kayak fisherman, and have probably trespassed all over the place, but no one ever ran me off. I just don't go on anything posted.

Wait, I did a combat launch off the side of the road in Cameron once. Came back to find the sheriff and landowner waiting for me. Apologized, and he let me slide. Spot sucked so I wouldn't have gone back anyway.

She-it, 50 years in the courts. Looks how long that Catahoula case took, and this is 1000x as big.
