Somebody talk me out of this truck. Looking for a project and a tow vehicle for a boat. Truck is in Georgia with 100K miles on it. Needs cosmetic work (dash, door panels, etc, etc). Love the color.

Thoughts?

Your definition of project truck and mine differ greatly, that looks like its already a daily driver. With that being said, personally I’d rather a 4x4 one with the 6.2 diesel from that era.

This was my original thought as well, but the 6.2 was a little underpowered. There's aftermarket turbo boosters you can put on them, but that's $6-$7K.

A 454 that can breathe and has the right exhaust is a top 5 sound on the planet

Get rid of that side trim. Has anything been done to the engine?

Love the color too. Anyone else laughing at how that side mirror is attached to the door tripod-style.

Bought a 1990 model in it last July. Has a new crate motor in it but in way worse shape than this.

Use it at duck camp to carry ppl and decoys back and forth. Love em

That wasn't uncommon for a towing mirror.

I worked with a guy that had one- it was glorious- as another poster said- a 454 with headers and 18” glasspacks makes quite possibly some of the most glorious noise on earth.

Engine is stupid reliable and with HEI, easy to troubleshoot.

TH400 transmission, although no overdrive, is bulletproof.

Full floating Corporate 14 bolt rear was big enough for duallys- so it’s about 3x as stout as a Suburban needs.

Nope- just you.

That’s a West Coast mirror- all the baws had em in the 70s and 80s

Does the rear a/c work. I love those old square bodies. I like the 89 GMC Yukon with the 4 small headlights. My uncle had one.

Calling the guy back tonight. Everyone, including yall, has said to get it. Just need to see what the guy will settle for. Always wanted an older truck for a daily driver and tow vehicle.

My hunting truck is a 97 Ford F250 with a 460 in it. Gets a blazing 8.2 mpg on the highway at 65mph. Probably drops to 7 mpg at 75 mph.

Going to go through some gas with that big motor.
