Or if you know of a brand/type, that would be great. That will be my next small purchase to mess around with

Ruger 10/22. Endless aftermarket parts for it to do just about anything you want to it.

Whats the difference between the types? Target, Sport, Tactical, Compact, Carbine

I just picked this henry .22 from dicks for 260. I put on a cheap scope and its ready to rock. Its fun to shoot.

Carbine is just a shorter barrel, making I lighter but slightly less accurate. Not sure about the rest. You could find a used one at a good price, they're pretty damn common.

+1. I just got some 25 round clips and they are fun as hell.

Ruger 10/22 with a tactical stock, w/extra clip, red dot scope and laser is what I have. I got a trigger job and it is spot on at 50 yes. Really fun too shoot.

So $300 is the average price for a decent .22? For some reason I always thought they were cheaper, around $200.

You can get another rifle for around 200, but the 10/22 is worth the extra hundred bucks. Academy usually has them for around 275 or so.

Yes, with the blued barrel and wood stock. Nothing wrong with it, but I would want the synthetic/ stainless for 50 bucks more.

yea that's true. the takedown has a stainless barrel and a synthetic stock
