$250K still seems a little steep unless you're fishing it 365 days a year and really beating the hell out of it.

Figure 1k per foot for basic upkeep if you never leave the dock. 2k per foot for a regularly used boat. Add insurance and dockage and 250 would be easy to get to.

This. Plus it may be worth $2-4 million but its still a boat and shite breaks even with the best upkeep. Don't forget a captain at say $70k/year. Trust me a ton of guys think they can go buy a 60' convertible and run it themselves. Just the maintenance requires a captain.

Oh and don't back into a reef. Just one prop costs as much as that new 200hp Yamaha 4 stroke, and you got two of em.

Not to discourage your dreams or nothing...

What is your fishing rig of choice?

Boat I own - 18' Tidewater Baymax, decent for inshore and can do some very limited offshore fishing ( < 10 mile when the weather cooperates).

I wish had all three;

(1) 16' Gator-Tail duck boat

(2) 18' Hewes Redfisher for my inshore

(3) 36; Yellowfin for my offshore adventures

The boat I have is ok and suits me well enough, but after I win the Contender 21 in the raffle at the Boat Show in New Orleans, I will choose that boat. Boat Raffle

Winning that boat is impossible. I already have the winning ticket at my house.
