I already have an i pilot, but strong wind in any direction will spin the boat around when it's on spot lock. Will one power pole/talon paired with an ipilot on spot lock keep the boat facing the original position or will I still need 2 poles?

what year is your ipilot? The 2017s w the GPS puck do a much better job of holding you and keeping your heading.

I have an xi5 and power pole. To answer your question yes it will hold you. You still may rotate within tolerance of the GPS fix but it will be much less drastic than without a stern anchor. You TM will also work less to hold you there

Depends on how hard the wind is blowing, power pole knuckles are not designed to be stressed sideways like your talking about and will snap, they will warranty the part but there will still be the inconvenience factor involved. I'm referring to the original design, they just released a new knuckle design that looks stronger so maybe they designed it with the new spot lock tm's in mind, having seen new designed in person yet.

2016. The spot lock accuracy window isn't as tight as advertised. I was warned to allow for a 5-6' radius, when it's actually probably closer to 10'. And that's not even close to the inconvience anyone fishing in the back of the boat has to deal with while the gps whips the boat around and determines it's temporary random position.

I had a 2016 ipilot. Buddy had a 2017. We parked side by side hit anchor. My boat was all over the place and he was still. I sold mine and ordered a 2017 the next day.

No, powerpole and I pilot will take care of it. As mentioned previously, the position of the boat in reference to direction of the wind is key. Especially with larger boats. Most of the guides I know do this. They are all fishing out of Blue Wave Pure Bay 24' boats with that set up.
It works and you don't have 2 power poles to fish around on the back deck while in deeper water.

I have a power pole and 2016 I pilot am not satisfied with how it holds my position. I now use a "stick it" pole anchor in the front along with the power pole in the rear and have much better results.

I also tried a cajun anchor and while most of the time it worked, it did come loose more than a few times.

It will hold you pretty close, as others said your bow in relation to the wind plays a big factor.

A tried and true Cajun anchor off the bow eliminates the issue as well as you dont have to worry about noise from the trolling motor spooking fish.

Two power poles. If holding position is important to you, it's awesome. Thought it was dumb as I got by with just one pole. Then fished in a buddy's bass boat with two and it was awesome to have.
