I bought a new 1997 wrangler with the 2.5L quickly grew to hate it, and sold it in 2000, to get a used 2000 wrangler with the 4.0 which I still have, 115K miles no issues. I would avoid the 4 banger at all cost.

The 4 is pretty terrible, in terms of power. If you don't get any headwinds or don't need to go over 65, it's fine.
11K is all the money for a 4, even w/ low miles.
