I used to get that shite like crazy as a kid playing and building tree houses in the woods. Would get 5-6 cortisone shots every summer.
If I get it now, I can usually control the itching/spreading and washing it with Dawn 2-3 times a day usually dries it up in a few days. Put cortisone cream in between washes. I like that Benadryl spray too.

Wash with Dawn to remove the oils.
Benadryl / antihistamine to help with the itching
Ibuprofen / antinflamatory to remove redness and also helps with the itch
keep a tube of cortizone / anti itch creme in your pocket and rub some on everytime you have the urge to scratch.

Pour rubbing alcohol on it. The slight tingle you will feel indicates that it is dissolving the oils and healing the rash.

You want it gone quick... Go get a cortisone shot at the urgent care. It will be dried up within a few days. That other stuff may or may not work

I've tried the home remedies mentioned, and none worked for me. A product called Tecnu Extreme did work. It is available at some drug stores, and through Amazon.
