I want to build a floating dock on my pond. Anyone know where I can buy some of those plastic 55 gallon barrels/drums that are used for floatation? Only found them online so far for ~$70 per, which seems high especially after shipping. I'm in the BR area.

Example Floating Dock plans with barrels

You can buy second hand 55 gallon drums for $10 or $12 bucks a pop. You just have to find a hoarder. I mean home based businessman.

I bought 10 a while back from a place in BR for like $20 a piece. They were from a car wash. Was long ago, so I can't remember where it was.

After looking it up, I think it was American Containers

Nice link, I need one of these next to the pier behind my condo. Old frickers like me have a rough time getting in&out the kayak if the tide is too low. This might be my next project.

Check the port of NO. Also check with any restaurant supply that sells food in bulk as well. There used to be a place in NO that you could get pickle barrels for free or cheap. They make amazing containers.

I'll need at least six. I think. I'll see how much these container places are selling for. Thanks for the help, all.
